Overview
Description
This course is intended to integrate the basic principles of the management of large private and public organizations with the unique requirements of the wide range of small not-for-profit community organizations characteristic of the urban scene. Conceptual similarities and operating differences between the two are developed, compared, and contrasted. While the lecture forms the core of the course, exploratory studies of ongoing community organizations, field work, and special projects are integral parts of this course. Topics covered are selected to enhance the students understanding of managerial theory applicable to community organizations and how this theory may best be translated into effective and efficient operating practices.
