Transfer Student Orientation

COVID-19 UPDATE: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak all Orientation programs for the entering class of Fall 2020 will be held online.

All communications will be sent to your Baruch email. Claim your account here.

How to Receive an Invitation: Accept your offer of admission and submit the $100 commitment deposit via CUNYfirst.

Online Orientation: Check your Baruch email for important information about your access to the online orientation program. Completion of the online orientation program is required for all incoming students.

Course Registration: Once your completion of the online orientation program is confirmed wait 1-2 business days to receive your confirmation email and gain access to CUNYfirst course registration. REGISTER FOR COURSES ON YOUR OWN. Use our online FAQ, join us for a Bearcat Chat Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning May 19th, or make an appointment with an Academic Advisor if you need further assistance.

The information below are the steps for in-person orientation. Due to Covid 19 all orientation programs will be virtual/on-line. All staff members are currently working remotely. Please send your questions to Orientation@baruch.cuny.edu or reach the Admissions staff at New.Transfer@baruch.cuny.edu.

Welcome to Baruch College!

Your first introduction to life at Baruch will be your New Student Orientation day. Your academic advisors and orientation leaders are looking forward to welcoming you and helping you navigate this exciting transition. Please review our website to learn more about Baruch's Orientation program.

How to Receive an Invitation & Register for Orientation

Step 1: Accept your offer of admission via CUNYfirst.

Step 2: Submit the $100 commitment deposit via CUNYfirst.

Step 3: Take any proficiency exam(s) that may be required based on your Testing Ticket. Newly admitted students no longer need to take the math placement exam. Previous coursework will be used towards placement.

Step 4: Invitations will be emailed on a rolling basis. Please review the invitation carefully and click on the 'Register' link.

Step 5: The link will connect to PIVOT, your Pathways Introductory Virtual Orientation Tutorial.

Step 6: Once you watch the entire PIVOT tutorial (about 20 minutes), the last slide will provide a link to the registration calendar.  Once you are on the calendar you will be able to select your Orientation date. Save this link in case you want to change your date.

What to expect

  • A chance to meet other new students and upperclassmen

  • Hear all about the clubs and leadership opportunities on campus

  • Have your picture taken for your Baruch student ID card

  • Meet with an academic advisor in a group setting

  • View your transfer credit evaluation

  • Get registered for your first semester

Transfer Orientation is scheduled from 12:00 PM - 5 PM. You must arrive on time and stay for the duration of the program.

What to bring

  • An official picture ID

  • Know your CUNYfirst username and password

  • Your immunization records (only if not yet submitted)

  • Your social security number (the card itself is not necessary)

  • Updated Official College Transcripts (Non-CUNY only if not yet submitted)

  • Your Orientation RSVP confirmation email

Next Steps: View and pay your bill online. Once campus reopens plan to stop by the ID Center to pick up your student ID card.

  • Review the Academic Calendar to view refund and registration deadlines.  Remember, failure to officially drop your classes will result in assessed enrollment fees (i.e., tuition) for which you are responsible for, as well as any failing grades on your transcript.

How to View Your Bill & Make Payments

How to Pick Up Your New Student ID Card

Your ID card picture will be taken at Orientation. Follow these simple steps to pick up your new ID before the first day of class:

  1. Register for classes (done at Orientation and at home)

  2. Pay your bill on CUNYfirst

  3. Print the CUNYfirst screen that shows a zero balance on your Baruch account

  4. Bring your print-out to the ID Card Center, located in room 133 on the first floor of the Library Building.

  • If your financial aid is listed as "anticipated aid," print out the information from your CUNYfirst account.

Meeting with an Academic Advisor After Orientation

  • Check our office hours to plan your visit.

  • Bring your Program Planning Sheet from your Orientation day for walk in advisement.
