Description

Young adult literature addresses readers between the ages 12 and 20 who seek intellectual stimulation, pleasure and self-discovery. In this course, students will read historical and realistic fiction, fantasies, poetry, and biographies and autobiographies dealing with themes such as adapting to physical changes, independence from parents and other adults, acquiring a personal identity and achieving social responsibility. Issues of censorship-its history, practice and impact on young adult reading choices- will be explored.
