Description

This course examines the social, economic and political origins of the civil rights movement, the major international events that fueled its development, and the movement’s transformation over time. We will study the differing political philosophies and strategies for reform employed by movement leaders and participants and the organizations they formed. (Students will receive credit for only one of the following courses: BLS 3056; HIS 3056; or LTS 3056. These courses may substitute for each other in the F-replacementpolicy).
