Journalistic Criticism and Reviewing
Download as PDF
Overview
Description
What kind of expertise does a reviewer have to bring to an object of criticism? What makes a review more than a mere blurt of opinion? How does a writer both describe and comment upon a work in a limited amount of space and on a tight deadline? These are the sorts of questions that are answered in practice in this course. In addition to reading the work of sample critics, students will learn to write reviews of plays, books, music, film, and/or television. Formerly ENG 3400. Students will receive credit for JRN 3400 or ENG 3400. Please note: Unless otherwise specified, JRN courses may not be used within the English major or minor.
