Description
The course is an overview of Latin America’s historical, cultural and political development, from pre-Columbian times to the present. It focuses on the major indigenous civilizations, the history of slavery, the conquest and colonization, as well as the twentieth-century’s revolutions and dictatorships within the framework of US relations. The current debates on free trade, migration, the environment and socialism are also addressed.
