Description

This course is structured to provide the student with a broad appreciation of the economic constraints and opportunities of environmentally sustainable development, ecological preservation, and the formulation of attendant economic policies by the federal and local governments. In addition, the course will examine the role of regulation of the private, financial, utility, and housing sectors in obtaining a stable environment. This course will view corporate and private financial operations and regulation through the lens of their consequences for environmentally sustainable development. Students will be expected to discuss the nature of evolving environmental economics and ecological regulation. This course will be geared to students with an adequate background in economics and an appreciation of the natural sciences, and is designed to further their skills and knowledge in integrating environmental economics into their portfolio of analytical and communication skills.
