Description

This course presents the logic of research in sociology, reviewing historical perspectives, current orientations, and methods of social research. Students will learn the concepts, assumptions, and techniques of research, including the following research methods: sampling, questionnaire construction, survey analysis, field observation, interviewing, and participant observation. Students will work on study design and execution themselves, as well as review others' research successes and failures. This course is required of all sociology majors.
