This course will be an introduction to bioethical issues, explored through the perspective of sociology. The course will take as its substantive focus the beginning and end of life issues, the bioethical concerns around birth and death. We will look at the many interesting issues being raised by the new reproductive technologies, the work in genetics, and the intersection of the two; and the changing technologies and culture of end-of-life care.
