Overview
Description
This course is designed to provide the basic framework of labor union history in the United States. Emphasis will be placed on the philosophical, legislative/legal approach. The focus of the course will be on the recognition and analysis of those forces and events that shaped the present configuration of today's labor union environment. While no one historian's approach will be controlling, emphasis will be placed on developmental milestones leading to the present industrial relations model. Students should have access to and consult a current collective bargaining and industrial relations text. Open to all MPA students with Grad 8 status and second-year Executive MSILR students or by permission of the Office of Graduate Admissions and Student Services of the School of Public Affairs.
