Description

This course focuses on modeling as aids to managerial decision making. Students enhance their analytical thinking skills by developing quantitative representations real world problems. Using the computer, the models are analyzed --with emphasis on what-if questions -- and modified, resulting in a better understanding of the underlying structure. Deterministic optimization and probilistic modeling methods studied include linear and integer programming, networks, queuing theory, simulation, and theory. Case studies expose the student to a wide variety of application and management planning issues in the areas of marketing, economics finance, accounting, production planning, personnel issues, and systems analysis.
