Description

Study of such subjects as unfair competition, false advertising, and defamation and product disparagement. The protection of industrial and intellectual property, such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, will be examined. The roles of the Federal Trade Commission and other government and non-government bodies in enforcement will be studied in light of recent trends. The continuing validity of the state appropriation cause of action will be discussed. Recent developments such as remedial advertising, the use of simulations and testimonials in television and other advertising, and the BETAMAX case will be discussed.
