Overview
Description
Courts, legislators and regulators routinely address controversial matters of social and public policy. This course will teach students about the major schools of legal theory and constitutional interpretation, including formalism, law and economics, pragmatism, originalism, feminist legal theory and critical legal studies. By the end of the course, students will be capable of engaging in a sophisticated discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of competing approaches to legal decision-making about significant public policy issues.
