Description

This course will examine immigration and New York City, past present and future. Topics covered will include the intersection of immigration with economics, including entrepreneurial enterprises, as well as religion, race, gender and ethnicity. The course will examine the social, economic and political structures of immigrant communities, the impact of successive waves of newcomers on urban culture, and the continuing debates over immigrant incorporation and Americanization. This course is cross listed with ANT 3035, BLS 3035 and SOC 3035. Students may receive credit for ANT 3035, BLS 3035, HSP 3035, or SOC 3035. These courses may not substitute for each other in the F-grade replacement policy.
