Description

More Africans were forcibly migrated to Brazil than to any other country in the World. This course investigates the social history of these Africans and their descendants. Students will explore issues of identity, slavery, resistance, African cultural continuities, and strategic accommodation to the dominant society as a method for coping with and critiquing Brazilian reality. This course is equivalent to LACS 3020. Students will receive credit for only one of these courses.
