Download as PDF
Overview
Description
Romance helped promote courtly love and chivalry, both significant preoccupations of medieval European aristocracy. This course examines a range of famous romances such as Chretien de Troyes, Lancelot, Thomas Berul's Tristan and Isolde, and Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur through the scope of desire in its various manifestations. For students with two other upper-level (3000-level or above) English courses, this course may serve as the capstone for the Tier III requirement.
