Description
This course is devoted to an intensive study of the Canterbury Tales, a work that founds the English literary tradition. Chaucer's masterpiece contains a series of stories ranging from serious and pious to amorous and humorous. The work enriches contemporary understanding of medieval culture and society while offering an opportunity to study a variety of narrative genres. For students with two other upper-level (3000-level or above) English courses, this course may serve as the capstone for the Tier III requirement.
