Overview
Description
This course examines significant Chinese films since 1949 to the present. While concentrating on literary themes and motifs as well as artistic expression, this course aims to provide students with a better understanding of modern Chinese culture and the social political situations. Issues of moral concepts, human relations, feminism, sexuality, and family structures as well as political expressions form the basis of class discussions. Critical essays examining these issues are integrated with the projection of films illustrating these particular aspects.
